LATIN I -
We finished our first Stage last week. We ended with an assessment that included the Stage vocabulary, sentence translations and culture questions about a typical upper-class Roman home and basic societal roles of men and women, as well as slaves. Next week we will start our new stage which will work on sentences with a new grammatical aspect (Direct Objects) along with new vocabulary.
SPANISH NOVICE II -
We continued our work on our unit "Corrida de toros" with a story that the students helped create with character and place names. The story uses our new target words, está (he / she is), tiene (he / she has) and va a (he / she goes to). Next week we will have a listening and reading assessment on these targets.
SPANISH NOVICE I -
We finished our story of "Ana y las puertas" (Ana and the doors), which uses our target words; abre (he / she opens), cierra (he / she closes), nunca (never), and camina (he / she walks). These targets are helping us with our present tense verbs. We will practice the different verb forms next week and will have a listening & reading assessment.

Start of 2018
With the snow days, we only had one day of each class in our first week of 2018.
LATIN I -
We had our Phrase of the Day "alma mater", which means "nurturing mother", which is commonly used to refer to a school that a person attended in the past, meaning that the school nurtured knowledge. We then worked on our Roman Real Estate project where the students are working on describing a typical upper class home from ancient Pompeii.
SPANISH NOVICE I -
We did our Daily Spanish Notebook and reviewed our "Cuentito de Pedro" assessment. We searched for cognates in the story and identifying "backwards" verbs before playing a review Kahoot to practice sentences with backwards verbs.
SPANISH NOVICE II -
We did our Daily Spanish Notebook and reviewed our "Best Universities in the World" assessment to answer any remaining questions. We also played a review Kahoot to refresh our memory on Regular Present Tense Verbs.
